A few months ago, my teenage daughter told me about something some of her friends were doing. They were writing Scripture on post-it notes and putting them around their towns. We both loved the idea and decided that since we are normally running errands together during the day here and there, that we would grab some post-it notes and also leave some love around our town, too.
I grabbed a simple pack of yellow post-it notes, a black sharpie and a pen and threw them in my purse. We decided that the first place we’d leave our notes was at our local grocery store when we shopped. I simply wrote the words, “Jesus loves you” on the notes and gave them to Caylin to place around here and there. We loved picking spots to leave the notes and giggled as we sneakily made sure no store employees (or other people) were watching us.
Not only did it make us feel so good to spread the love of Christ around, but it truly has been such a wonderful thing to do together. It’s become our “thing” now and we have done it for months smiling and praying over the notes all along the way. We know that people have come across them and it has blessed them and that makes us so happy.
Nowadays I feel like any bit of an encouraging message about the Gospel and Jesus is much needed. There is so much fear and uncertainty in the world and the One who takes our fear and gives us peace is the one and only God. This is just a very simple way to share God’s love with people and remind them of who they are – children of the Most High!
I really hope this encourages you to share God’s love in even the simplest ways because it matters. Grab some post-it notes and a pen and put them in your purse to have on hand to spread some encouragement and love. Make it a family thing that you do – get your teens and young kids involved. You will love it and you will be making a difference in someone’s day (and maybe life)! If you do, please share on Instagram and use the hashtag #jesuslovesyounotes. I’d love to see them! XO!
